Writers’ Showcase Request for Submissions

By February 2, 2015 Highlighted Programming

WritersShowcaseReadHappy New Year from everyone here at 360 North public television and KTOO FM in Juneau, and thank you to all who contributed to our November holidays show. We had a great time recording the program, and if you haven’t had a chance to see Seth Kantner perform in a unique adaptation of “The Night Before Christmas” watch it here. You can watch more performances on our Writers’ Showcase page.

Our next show’s theme is “Journeys” on Friday, March 20th, 2015 and the submission deadline is February 27th. We’re fairly liberal with our theme interpretations, so if you have any kind of journey: actual, figurative, symbolic, abstract, or theoretical, please let us know. Speaking of theoretical, we tend to receive mostly creative non-fiction so fiction would be most welcome. Essays and short stories should be about 10 minutes long when read aloud. Please submit to arts [at] ktoo.org and let us know of any publication history or rights.

Show format: Stories are read aloud before a live studio audience by actors. The program is recorded for broadcast on 360 North and KTOO-News, with the potential for broadcast on other public radio stations in the state.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a budget to pay our writers or actors, but do find that the performance, high quality video recording, and statewide and internet exposure are usually ample reward. If you’re interested, have questions, or an idea you want to run by us, please email arts [at] ktoo.org, or call 360 North producer Scott Burton at 907.463.6473.

Note that our last recording in the 2014-2015 season is on June 4th. We’re calling it Writer’s Choice and it’s an open theme. The submission deadline is April 19th.
