Alaska’s Marine Highway: Life on Board

The eleven ships of the Alaska Marine Highway travel routes totaling more than 35 hundred miles from Washington north along the coast of Alaska. They visit over thirty Alaska ports. It is the largest system of its kind in the world. For the people who travel and work on this unique highway, Life on Board comes with its own challenges and rewards. And, for current and former crew members, the ferry has done much more than transport tourists and residents from port to port.
